TERM ONE INQUIRY: CARING FOR OURSELVES

The Room 3 children have been thinking hard about all the things that we do to 'care' for ourselves at home and school.  We know that we need to wear a hat, apply suntan lotion and try to stay cool when the hot sun is out and we know how to wash our hands to keep  nasty germs away.  We also decided that we need to eat 'healthy foods' which we thought were foods like fruit and vegetables.  We decided to plant some vegetable seeds and plants in our school vegetable garden which will turn into healthy produce for us to eat!
Planting carrot seeds and covering them over!

Putting cabbage and broccoli in the ground.  "We must water them them now!"

Putting seed potatoes in the dirt and then covering them up!

Planting carefully...

The seed potatoes...
After we planted the vegetable seeds and plants we all agreed that another type of food that keeps us healthy is 'fruit'.  We decided to make 'fruit kebabs'.  We all made our own fruit kebabs and we had fun threading the fruit onto our kebab stick.  YUMMO!  Fruit kebabs!
Cut up fruit for the kebabs.... and some lollies too ;-)

Being patient... waiting for a turn to thread fruit kebabs

YUMMO!  The finished fruit kebabs

We know what we need to eat to care for ourselves!
