United Kingdom Oma!

Room 3 has been corresponding with classmember Jessica's Oma in the United Kingdom.  Last week we had a visit from her!  We were all able to call her Oma... it was awesome!  When Oma visited Room 3 she taught us how to make our own books.  In groups of about 4, the children learnt how to fold and cut paper to make their own special book creations.  We can't wait to put our stories into them. Oma brought in a large variety of her books that she had handmade.  We were amazed!  Oma gave Room 3 a beautiful book with verses about books in it.  Mrs M is reading a verse each day.  This has inspired us in Room 3.  We enjoyed our time with Oma and we would like to thank her so much!
Room 3 with Jessica's Oma... we had just made our own special books!

Being silly with Jessica's Oma!  We have lots of fun in Room 3!

Term 3 Inquiry - Habitats

For the Term 3 Inquiry we chose to look at 'ponds'.  We went for a walk in the local park "Bannerman Park" and found a dirty disgusting pond.  We decided to take action!  We decided to write to the Park Manager and tell him what we thought about this dirty pond.  We had learnt all about ponds and we knew what a healthy pond should be like.  We wrote and illustrated a persuasive letter to the Manager.... Clean up the pond!  The Manager responded with a letter and action occured.  The pond had the rubbish and sticks removed and the boardwalk was repaired!  Room 3 has realised that we can make a difference!  Well done Room 3!

The dirty pond.... yuck!

Fun day

The children of Room 3 filled their golf ball jar again.  We had a fun Olympics 'type' day with Room 1 to celebrate the achievement!  The day started out with all the children going into mixed groups.  The groups then designed a name and flag for the competition.  After that we had the events!  They were:  Kiwi fruit and spoon races, Scooter races, Paper tree building and Target.  The children all had fun moving around the different activities.  Everyone won a gold medal (crunchie bar)!  After that we watched Toy Story and enjoyed yummy cake and fish'n'chips.  There was fizzy as well!  We finished the day with a walk up to Bannerman Park to feed the deer.  It was an awesome day.  Check out our videos!
