Visit from baby Jemima

On the last day of Term 1 we had a visit from Talia's baby sister, Jemima.  We were lucky to get a hold and a cuddle of a very precious baby girl!  This was the first time many children in the classroom had held a baby so this was a wonderful experience!  Thanks Ceri!  Some of the vocabularly and thoughts that came out after her visit were..

"Jemima feels soft"                "She has tiny fingers"            "She likes to be talked to"

"Jemima smells nice"              "Her hair is dark and fluffy"      "Jemima has bright eyes"

The process of pollination

After Room 3 had a visit from Mr Lawlor the beekeeper and his bees we decided we needed to learn more about the amazing work that bees do!  We created a wall in the classroom that illustrates the 'process of pollination'.

Here is the Room 3 version of the process of pollination....

The worker bees fly to flowers and collect the nectar or pollen on their legs.  The bee moving round the flowers gives them and the flowers a little treat.  The bees fly back to their hive where they make honey and wax out of the nectar.  The worker bees go back out again....   Without bees to give them the little treat there would be no flowers or vegetables!  Bees are very important!
